Special from CRARacing.net

Corbin, Kentucky’s Josh Brock was having a good 2017 season, his first ever to race with the ARCA/CRA Super Series. Going into the Kil-Kare Raceway event in July, Brock had not been feeling well, and doctors had finally pin pointed the problem, he had Cancer in the form of Non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma. Brock went ahead and raced in the Kil-Kare event, but that ended up being his last race of the 2017 season, after doctors told him it was in his best interest to step out of the race car while he began the process of fighting the Cancer. At the time Brock was close to the top in both series Championship points and Senneker Performance Rookie of the Year points, but a more important battle was ahead for Brock and his family.

“We were having such a good season running with CRA, but I just kept feeling bad and I knew something was wrong,” remarked the 25 year old Brock. “The doctors told me I had to quit racing until I was healed up, it was bad enough to be sick, but not being able to race was really tough on me. It was a scary time in my life, my girlfriend Whitley, my family, my friends, all supported me and kept me with a positive outlook during the treatments, all I could think was I wanted to get back in that race car!”

The treatments worked and Brock got the news he wanted to hear on January 1st, he was Cancer free and could get back in the seat of a race car.

“That was a great day,” added Brock. “This whole ordeal has fired me and my team up to come back even stronger for the 2018 season! We will start down at SpeedFest and be ready to have a great season. I have to thank everyone who prayed for me and kept me going during the treatments, it was awesome to have so much support from so many people!”

Brock will compete in both the ARCA/CRA Super Series Super Late Model and the JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour Pro Late Model events at CRA SpeedFest 2018. Brock will have Wisconsin hot shoe Travis Sauter calling the shots as his Crew Chief in Georgia for his Fury Race Cars.

Brock’s 2018 plans are to run for the ARCA/CRA Super Series Championship and to compete in selected JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour events during the season. Brock started the 2017 season with a bang at the North/South Late Model Challenge 100 at Fairgrounds Speedways Nashville, getting a fifth place finish, the second highest finishing CRA car, and was the Senneker Performance Rookie of the Race. He followed that up with a ninth place finish at Toledo Speedway and a season high third place finish at Anderson Speedway in May, and was the Rookie of the Race at both those events.

Brock had some bad luck at the Bristol Motor Speedway and Redbud 400 events after getting caught up in an accident at both those events. He got two more top ten finishes, an eighth place finish at Baer Field Motorsports Park and a seventh place finish in his final event of 2017 at Kil-Kare. Brock was honored at the 2017 CRA Awards Banquet as the eighth place finisher in final series Championship points.

CRA SpeedFest 2018 will consist of a $10,000 to win 200 lap ARCA/CRA Super Series Super Late Model special non-points event and a $5000 to win 125 lap JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour Pro Late Model special non-points event. The 200 ARCA/CRA Super Series event will be an eight tire max event that will count yellow flag laps up to lap 175 with Controlled Cautions. The 125 lap JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour event will be a four tire only event that will count yellow flag laps up to lap 100.
