The championship outcome didn’t play out how Josh Brock hoped in the Winchester 400 as the eighth-place finish left him just one spot shy of the ARCA/CRA Super Series championship.

In a chase format, four drivers had a chance for the title at Winchester, with the highest finisher Sunday in Winchester taking the honors. After 400 grueling laps around the high bank, Brock came up one spot short.

There was much disappointment for the Corbin, KY driver, but now he refuses to let that moment define what was a very successful season.

“To say I’m not disappointed would be a lie,” said Brock.  “It stings and it will probably sting for a while.  We were so strong all year in the CRA Series and it’s hard to accept that we aren’t the champion.  I think maybe the series needs to look at its format, but, when it came down to it, it just didn’t work out for us.  We had so much success this year though, I’m trying to focus on that.”

Brock’s success came in the form of two CRA Super Series wins, eight top-five finishes and 13 top-10 finishes.  He led 163 laps throughout the season and owned an average finish of 5.86.  The Kentucky driver also led the point standings for the entire year, claiming the regular season point championship.

“It was a big deal to me and my team to be the regular season champion,” said Brock.  “It maybe should be recognized a little more, but it was a big accomplishment.  We put a lot of effort into this season and I think it showed.  The two wins were huge, but just as important I felt like we were a threat everywhere we went this year.”
